January Two, try something new.

I spent the second day of 2012 day redeeming the cleanliness of my wee apartment, doing bizarre little projects -the kind of projects you only think to do on long weekends or the first of the year. Things like clean out and refill my entire salt and pepper shaker collection, like wipe down all of the oils and vinegars and line the shelves, or like, sew iPad sleeves - all the while apparently watching Lifetime Movie Network's Women Are Absolutely Nuts Marathon.
I probably watched close to five movies with varying levels of attention paid (due to the projects of course) and I am can report that 2/5 women cut their arms in order to receive attention from some man, 4/5 ended up killing people who were standing in the way of the men they loved, 4/5 absolutely misread the signals of their bosses and/or neighbors and assumed they were in love with them, 2/5 wanted to assume the position of the dead wife, 5/5 altered appointments, trips, and/or meetings, and 5/5 were utterly and crazily delusion. Most of them were also found uttering the phrase, "don't worry, this time will be different," or "things are gonna work this time". Like, yes, kill your second husband by poison for your creepy lover, because it will make things so much better this time, unlike when you killed your first husband.

I wondered why they put this string of movies on one a day like today, when a lot of people are off work and possibly checking out their cable's cinematic offerings while working on the their new year's projects. It was a little disconcerting to see so many women portrayed as absolute lunatics and surely that's not the way the Lifetime Movie Network wants to ring in the new year. Then I realized that the uplifting offering brought by LMN's Women Are Nutz Marathon is that it speaks to women worldwide who are always wondering how borderline crazy their obsessions really are - you know what I'm talking about.  It speaks to all us borderline cray-cray women and says, "AREN'T YOU GLAD YOU'RE NOT THAT CRAZY?"

It's nice to get that occasion reminder that you are stunningly normal, and not crazy, isn't it?
